Moving arrangements do not replace the official process

An outgoing tenant and a prospective replacement may agree on a move, but that does not establish the lease’s platform status. Before arranging handover or financial commitments, identify the correct process and participating parties. Replacing a name in an external document does not update the official contract.

Ejar describes its tenant-transfer service as a complete transfer of a residential or commercial lease after approval by the landlord, existing tenant and new tenant, with a service fee. Check current eligibility, declarations and displayed fees for the contract; submitting a request does not itself establish completion.

Prepare the contract details first

Review the contract reference, unit, remaining term, payments and relevant conditions. An inaccurate summary may lead a prospective tenant to decide on the wrong assumptions. Share the information needed for review while protecting personal details unnecessary at the initial enquiry stage.

Do not confuse changing the tenant with subletting part of a unit or terminating a lease and creating another. If the intended arrangement differs from transferring the whole contract, clarify the appropriate route rather than choosing whichever appears quicker.

  • The intended contract, unit and recorded term.
  • Payment schedule and items requiring reconciliation.
  • The new tenant and any representative’s authority.
  • Unit condition, keys and included fixtures.
  • Agreed points and questions still requiring review.

Keep additional arrangements distinct

For example, moving discussions may include furniture or equipment owned by the outgoing tenant. Mentioning these in a conversation does not necessarily make them part of the lease or the transfer service. Clarify each arrangement and whether it needs a separate agreement or specialist review.

Before committing money, identify the amount’s purpose, recipient and appropriate reference. Do not share passwords or verification codes, or approve on another party’s behalf through your account to speed up the process.

Follow the approvals, outcome and handover

Review the request through the official accounts according to each person’s role. Check outstanding steps before describing the transfer as complete. If party information or contract details are wrong, use the appropriate correction route rather than relying on a manually edited copy.

Coordinate inspection and handover, record relevant observations and retain the available references after completion. If the transfer cannot proceed or a dispute arises, do not assume that the lease ended or an obligation disappeared. Check the contract’s status and appropriate official process before taking further action.
